For those of you who don’t know anything about who we are and what we do, we decided to answer 5 questions to introduce ourselves and our storage site to our new world and future customers. Hopefully if you are spending your precious time reading this, you will feel like you already know us before we greet you with your brew on your first visit to Tortoise Storage!
- What actually is self storage?
Emma: It is a place where people and businesses can come and rent secure space for their belongings when they do not have enough space of their own. They can treat it as an extension of their own home or business by coming and going to their space whenever they need to.
- Why did you decide to set up your self storage site in Knowsley?
John: It felt right for us as an up and coming area, lots of businesses and houses – old and new and big future developments planned. The site is so easy for people to get to from a wider area as well with the M57 right on our doorstep. (you can actually see the cars and lorries zooming down it from our site!)
3. What is so special about your self storage site?
Emma: We have used self storage ourselves for years for archiving solicitor’s files. We have combined the convenience and value of a container storage site with the professionalism of a big warehouse storage facility. Our customers will be able to drive right up to the door of their container which makes for easy loading and unloading without the need for to and fro-ing with lifts, trolleys, forklifts etc. But we will be doing things properly. The whole facility is brand new, from the containers to the office to the concrete roadways. Security will be top notch with 24 hour monitored CCTV, tanoy and alarm system throughout the whole site. Our customers will be well looked after. There will always be a friendly face to answer their questions or chat about their day with. Or for those who don’t really like people, even nice ones, our great facilities will speak for themselves, not forgetting the all important toilet and complimentary refreshments!
- Now a bit about you – how did you get into doing what you are doing now?
We are brother and sister and we were working in the family solicitor’s practice. We knew that that line of work just wasn’t for us. So we went on the hunt for something else and came across the other side of self storage world after being customers ourselves for years. After doing some research we knew that was what we wanted to do and 2 years later, here we are, not far away from opening out first site to the public!
5. Let’s get personal. When you are not grafting hard in the storage world, what are you doing?
John: I have a gorgeous little boy who I enjoy spending as much time with as I can. His mother and my fiancé, Chantelle is a brilliant home maker and keeps us both in order. I also enjoy playing football when I am not injured…
Emma: I like walking, eating, swimming, eating, cooking, eating, crafting (amateurishly) and getting stuck into a good TV series, preferably while eating. I am getting married in October to Graham the Gardener who you may see make an appearance at the site. He should be keeping the grass green and the trees and shrubs pruned. If he’s not, feel free to tell him.
